Welcome to Chonjo!

Chonjo is a quarterly magazine that focuses on the happenings in Lamu, Malindi, and other parts of Kenya's North Coast. Chonjo features articles concerning local environmental issues, cultural preservation and travel information for visitors, plus an array of human interest stories.

Chonjo is a Kiswahili word meaning "alert" or "ready". We feel it is fitting, for it asks "are you ready/alert?" The answer should be "chonjo!"

Our team is made up of civic-minded individuals who promote access to information for responsible decisionmaking, whether for development projects or simply for leisure activities.

Now, you can engage with Chonjo online via our blog. Feel free to look around and see what we do.

Get in touch to know what is happening on Kenya's North Coast and where to go while you are visiting.
